The statistics regarding education and poverty in the Dominican Republic are alarming. Many children are still out of school, and literacy rates are concerning. But together, we can rewrite these statistics and create a brighter future for these children. Here are some eye-opening statistics that show the urgency of this cause: 📊 In 2016, there were 215,431 children aged 5 to 17 out of school in the Dominican Republic. 📈 The country's poverty rate stands at 23%, limiting access to quality education for many. 📝 6% of the population in the Dominican Republic cannot read or write (National Institute of Statistics and Geography, 2019). 🏫 Around 18% of adults over the age of 25 have not completed primary education (UNESCO). 🚸 Gender disparities persist, with girls experiencing higher dropout rates than boys.
